The "Whiz-ard" That Is Dr. Oz

Give Yourself A Little Boost

When I don’t sleep well, I don’t feel very energetic during the day.  I do perk up at night though – strangely enough, which is why I am posting this blog instead of sleeping.  I will have to be better at being in bed, lights out at 11:15 like I’m supposed to.

Here are some tips on how you can eat  to boost energy and I’ll tell you which I’m going to try – even though it means yet another trip to the grocery store:

  • Peanut Butter and Chia Seeds – I know – sounds fantastic : ) After you finish eating it, you can pour water over the leftovers and have a Chia Pet.  Seriously though, this is something he recommends in moderation when you need an energy lift (protein + omega 3 fatty acids)
  • Kiwis – with more than two times the amount of Vitamin C as an orange and more potassium than a banana, this little under-rated, ugly stepsister of the fruit family packs a lot of nutritional bang for your buck
  • Goji Juice is also supposed to be energizing and if you can’t find it, Goji Berries will do the trick

I’m going to try the kiwi.  I’m eating more than enough nuts and it’s a horrible season for citrus fruit so I’m looking for alternatives anyway.  Besides, I can just go to Longo’s and get them – no special trip to Whole Foods.  I’ll try them on the weekend and let you know next week if I’m feeling any different.

Hello and welcome to my blog. This started as a one year experiment to try to improve my health, turning to Dr. Oz for advice. One year became two and after that, the writing bug hit and writing about travel, lifestyle and my own musings became more fun. I'll return to the "Whiz-ard" when the feeling comes, but exploring other topics and getting to connect with new people and re-connect with old friends has been fun! Remember, any health advice you see here should be vetted with your family doctor. Any travel advice that I give though, should be followed! I am a marketing professional, working in media. This allows me to continue my obsession with all things TV and print and get paid for it. I'm an avid traveller, reader and shopper but make time for friends, family and volunteering so that I don't feel completely shallow.
